I thought it went well overall except for being asked to comment on the trade-off between federal and provincial levels of funding for Science.  I don’t have much to say on that topic, so I tried to steer the answer towards the trade-off between investments in basic vs. applied aspects of Science, a pertinent and important aspect of this conversation, but Steve stopped me and redirected the question.  How would you have responded?
